Auto enthusiasts won’t want to miss Wake Tech’s Auto & Bike Show on Saturday, May 18, at Northern Wake Campus. The show will feature exotic and luxury vehicles on display, contests and prizes, food vendors, music, and auto detailing demonstrations. It will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and admission is free.

Car clubs and individuals interested in registering a vehicle for judging can do so at http://autobikeshow.waketech.edu ($5 before May 10; $10 after that date). Proceeds from the event will go to a scholarship fund for students in the Automotive Detailing Certification program.

“The Auto & Bike Show is fun – and exciting, because it allows us to showcase our program,” says Ernestine Ledbetter, department head and coordinator for the show. “Skilled auto detailers are in demand in our area, and this event helps us support students who want to take advantage of the training opportunities Wake Tech offers.”

Anthony Hodges, a graduate of the Auto Detailing Certification program, says his training and the certification he earned helped him land his current job: “I used to do mobile detailing as a side job, but this program taught me the proper and professional way to care for a car,” Hodges says. “I am more confident in my abilities now, and thanks to this program, I now have a good job at Leith Mercedes.”

Participants in the Auto & Bike Show will compete for awards in categories that include classic, hot rod, and muscle car or truck as well as motorcycle cruiser, Harley Davidson, or sport bike. Vehicle check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. on show day. Awards will be presented at 3 p.m.

Free public parking is available in Parking Lot D at Wake Tech’s Northern Wake Campus, 6600 Louisburg Road, Raleigh.
