Moore & Van Allen Attorney Named to Lawyers Of Color Hot List
Moore & Van Allen PLLC is pleased to announce that Charlotte Intellectual Property Associate Vas Vedantam was named to Lawyers Of Color’s (LOC) 2014 Southern Region Hot List, which recognizes early- to mid-career minority attorneys who are excelling in the legal profession. Honorees, who work as in-house counsel, government attorneys, or law firm associates and partners, will be profiled in Lawyers Of Color’s 2014 Hot List Issue.
Vedantam maintains a broad-based intellectual property practice, with a focus on patent protection, trade secret protection, trademark protection, intellectual property licensing, and intellectual property litigation. He currently represents both Fortune 500 and start-up companies in a variety of industries, including electronics, computing, financial services, and telecommunications. Vedantam is well-versed with emerging technologies, including cloud and context-aware computing, social media and analytics, mobile applications and next-generation mobile devices, among others. Vedantam also brings diverse international experience from having previously lived in Mumbai and Singapore.
The 2014 Hot List honorees were chosen through a two-pronged process. The LOC selection committee, comprised of editorial staff, fellows and advisers, reviewed nominations and legal publications in order to identify promising candidates. Editorial picks were also made based on research of attorneys who had noteworthy accomplishments, with special attention given to candidates active in diversity pipeline initiatives.
Moore & Van Allen Charlotte Corporate Associate Omari Sealy was named to the inaugural Lawyers Of Color Hot List, which published in 2013.
LOC was initially founded as On Being A Black Lawyer, but now also produces publications for lawyers of South Asian American, Pacific Asian American, Hispanic, and Native American heritage. LOC has been recognized by the American Bar Association, National Black Law Students Association, and National Association of Black Journalists. The organization has a core readership of 35,000, nearly 200,000 unique blog visitors, and nearly 4,000 followers and fans in social media.
