RALEIGH, N.C., Dec. 1, 2015 – Mims Distributing Company, a wholesale beverage distributor in North Carolina, has announced the release of Anchor Brewing’s 2015 Anchor Christmas Ale. This year marks the 41st rendition of the California-based brewery’s popular annual holiday ale, available for a limited time to craft beer enthusiasts in North Carolina.

Though the Anchor Christmas Ale’s recipe varies every year, Anchor Brewing keeps the same purpose in mind each time: to harness the joy and celebration of the newness of life. A dark, spiced ale with a deep, rich color, the 2015 Anchor Christmas Ale is brewed using malted barley, fresh whole hops, and a top-fermenting yeast, making it the ideal beer to pair with holiday meals. A Christmas tree aroma and smooth, chocolate-like texture accompany the fruity and roasted malt notes.

Additionally, Anchor Brewing creates a new label each year featuring a different tree. This year’s label takes a West Coast approach with the illustration of a Deodar Cedar, or California Christmas Tree, which represents the spirit of the season and has been a San Francisco favorite for more than 150 years. The search for the perfect tree for the 2015 Anchor Christmas Ale label began and ended in the brewery’s parking lot – two enchanting Deodars were in sight just half a block from the front door. Bay Area artist James Stitt, who has been providing Christmas Ale illustrations since 1975, created the delightful scene.
