Chapel Hill, N.C. – Kidzu Children’s Museum is excited to announce its milestone 10th birthday and invites museum members, the public, and the media to join in a free day of play and performances on Sunday, March 6th from 1-5pm!

To celebrate ten years of purposeful play, Kidzu is partnering with many community groups to present activities and performances throughout the day. Free interactive performances will take place on the University Place stage. They include a family-friendly improvisation set with DSI Comedy, music by the Waterlilies, a reading with local authors Elaine O’Neil and Missy Julian Fox, a performance by the Clapping Hands Farm, and an opportunity to interact with musical instruments with our friends from the North Carolina Symphony Zoo.

Inside the museum, Beadluxe will be making keychains, Bricks 4 Kidz will be teaching children the principles of engineering and architecture through the use of LEGO® bricks, Mad Science will have experiments in the Makery, Mi Escuelita Preschool will host bi-lingual story time, and friends of Disney’s The Good Dinosaur will be making friendship bracelets. Additionally, there will be special appearances by Cotton the Clown, Cinderella, The Snow Queen, and Triangle Heroes!

While supplies last, guests will be able to enjoy pizza from Alfredo’s Pizza Villa, ice cream from Maple View Farms Creamery, and birthday cake from Harris Teeter.

On March 6th, the museum will proudly be accessible to all! In lieu of gifts, please consider a birthday donation of $10.00 per adult in honor of Kidzu’s 10th year! We would also like to give a special thanks to additional sponsors, Mama Dip’s Kitchen and MMI.

After opening its doors in 2006, Kidzu Children’s Museum has tripled its square footage, expanded its programming to include field trips and summer camps, and has created the only dedicated makerspace designed specifically for young children in North Carolina. They have served over 300,000 children and adults since opening and more than 75,000 people in their newest space in University Place in the past 11 months.
