Dr. Eric Emerson Initiated into the American College of Surgeons
Dr. Eric Emerson, a board certified plastic surgeon with Piedmont Plastic Surgery and Dermatology, recently became a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). Fellows of the College must meet high education, training, surgical competence and ethical conduct standards. Initiates must also pass a rigorous evaluation and have been found to be consistent with the high professional standards established and demanded by the College. A surgeon’s acceptance as a FACS must be approved by three-fourths of the College’s Board of Regents.
Dr. Emerson practices at Piedmont Plastic Surgery’s Gastonia (New Hope Road) and Shelby offices and has over 15 years of experience in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. He received his medical doctorate degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the North Carolina Medical Society and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
The American College of Surgeons is a scientific and educational organization of surgeons that was founded in 1913 to raise the standards of surgical practice and to improve the quality of care for the surgical patient. The College is dedicated to the ethical and competent practice of surgery. Its achievements have established it as an important advocate for all surgical patients.
