Community Blood Center of the Carolinas Announces Expansion to Greensboro
The Community Blood Center of the Carolinas (CBCC) announced today that it will be expanding the territory it serves to include the Greensboro area. CBCC will be opening a fifth blood donation center in Greensboro and also intends to have mobile drives in the area.
The new Greensboro Blood Donation and Distribution Center will be located at 616 Pasteur Drive in Greensboro (27403) with plans to open on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2014. The site is currently under renovation in preparation for the targeted opening date. The donor center will supply five Cone Health facilities in the Greensboro area while providing enhanced service to donors, sponsors and patients.
“We are very excited about our growth through this partnership with Cone Health and to serve local patients throughout the piedmont area,” said Martin Grable, president and CEO of the Community Blood Center of the Carolinas. “The need for blood is never ending. As our hospitals expand to keep pace with the increased needs of our growing region, so must our blood supply. We look forward to working with the donors in this region who will play an important role by directly supporting local hospitals and patients.”
In addition to serving local patients with life-saving blood, CBCC’s Greensboro Blood Donation and Distribution Center will also create six news jobs with an opportunity for future growth. For more information about job opportunities at the new donor center, contact Lynnette Krentz at cbccteam@cbcc.us.
As the primary blood supplier to 27 area hospitals, CBCC relies on local organizations and volunteer blood donors to help provide over 400 blood products needed each day to treat area patients. CBCC operates four other donor centers regionally, including: Charlotte (4447 South Blvd.); Concord (363 Church Street North, Suite 170); Gastonia (2524 East Franklin Blvd, Suite E); and Hickory (2217 Hwy 70 SE).
More information will be available soon about CBCC’s Greensboro Blood Donation and Distribution Center’s grand opening and hours of operation. Community organizations in the area are encouraged to support CBCC by hosting local blood drives.
