Art Of Cool Festival Seeks Musicians For Jazz And Soul Festival in April
DURHAM, N.C., Jan. 28, 2015 – The Art of Cool Festival (AOCFEST), a locally run, three-day music festival, has issued an open call for artist applications to augment its 2015 lineup. AOCFEST seeks North Carolina-based individual performers and groups in the genres of jazz, soul, rhythym and blues and hip-hop to join its queue of talented artists from around the globe, including Roy Ayers, Anthony Hamilton, The Kenny Garrett Quintet, Snarky Puppy and more. High School and College Big Band, jazz combos and vocal jazz ensembles are encouraged to apply. The application process closes on Sunday, Feb. 15.
Chosen applicants will perform as opening acts on the festival’s outdoor and some indoor stages. The lineup will be announced on Sunday, March 15. Interested applicants should send an email with website information and video performance clips to info@theartofcoolproject.org.
AOCFEST is Durham’s first world-class jazz and soul music festival. The three-day event combines two outdoor stages, five indoor music venues and more than 30 world-class performances. Last year, the event hosted more than 3,500 music lovers and approximately 40 bands. AOCFEST’s economic impact for Durham was approximately $600,000 in direct and indirect spending in April 2014.
