M/I Homes of Charlotte Raises the "Green" Bar with Whole Home Building Standards

Bookmark and Share Charlotte, NC - February 28, 2014 -

M/I Homes of Charlotte is starting spring by helping customers save every month through M/I Homes' exclusive Whole Home Building Standards.

These best practices are part of every M/I home. They go beyond standard code, resulting in a home that is independently tested to determine its Home Energy Rating System Index, or HERS Index. M/I's HERS indices are even better than those required by the EPA for Energy Star® Certification.

The public can learn about Whole Home on www.mihomes.com/wholehome, the company's distinctive new website dedicated to the exclusive building standards. On the site, visitors will see:

* All of the facets of Whole Home and exactly how M/I builds such an energy-efficient home.

* A video series that clearly explains everything that Whole Home encompasses, including the details of the all-important HERS Index.

*An energy savings calculator that allows visitors to determine how much money they could be saving in a new M/I home built to the Whole Home standards.

M/I is committed to energy efficiency, but that's just the beginning of the Whole Home story. The standards also apply to the volume, efficiency and purity of the water being used in the home. Special attention is paid to the circulation of the interior air quality, which is especially important in an M/I home that is sealed in a weather tight "envelope."

Also, M/I reduces the carbon footprint of its homes by sourcing locally and using sustainable and environmentally friendly building materials whenever possible.

"We're committed to building a better home," says Tamara Lynch, vice president of sales and marketing for M/I Homes ofCharlotte. "Our Whole Home Building Standards are tangible proof of that commitment. As a 100% Whole Home certified builder, every home we build meets the Whole Home rigid standards. This results in a better quality and environmentally friendly home with superior indoor air quality and water conservation features that ultimately save the homeowner up to 30% on their energy bills."
