Hill, Chesson & Woody (HCW), a local benefits and consulting firm, will host a free educational seminar in conjunction with Gate City Advisors on Wednesday, August 26th, at Starmount Country Club, located at 1 Sam Snead Drive, Greensboro. This program, a part of HCW’s Employee Benefits Ready educational series, will focus on captives, a form of self-funding, and retirement plan audits.

The first portion of the presentation will outline how specific provisions of the Affordable Care Act will impact employer’s medical plan if they choose to stay fully insured and if they move to a self-funded or hybrid platform, such as a captive. Attendees will learn the way a captive is structured, the requirements to join, how a captive is financed and claims are paid, and the pros and cons of joining a captive.

The second portion of the presentation will provide an understanding of retirement plan audits and why the number of retirement plan audits is increasing. Employers will take away knowledge of what they can do to prepare for an audit.

This free seminar is accredited by the HR Certification Institute for 1.00 general credit hour toward PHR, SPHR and GPHR recertification. HCW is recognized by SHRM to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs) for the SHRM-CPSM or SHRM-SCPSM Registration and breakfast will begin at 8:30 a.m., with the presentation beginning at 9:00 a.m. For more information or to register, visit http://info.hcw-events.com/EBRTriad3.

“This presentation covers two hot topics in our marketplace,” said Todd Yates, HCW managing partner. “Employers need to be proactive when it comes to preparing themselves for retirement plan audits and making informed decisions regarding the funding of group health plans.”
